To obtain a temporary residence permit, an entrepreneur must prove that they have the necessary financial resources. Learn all the details about the Slovakia business residence permit below.
Financial Proof for Personal Living Expenses
When applying for a business residence permit, you must demonstrate financial stability. The applicant must show that they have sufficient funds to cover their living expenses in Slovakia for the entire duration of their stay.
The main requirements include:
- the amount must correspond to the monthly subsistence minimum;
- for periods longer than one year, the calculation is based on 12 months;
- proof of funds must be provided in the form of a bank statement in the applicant's name.
As of July 1, 2026, the minimum subsistence level is 295.22 euros per month; therefore, to reside in the country for more than one year, an amount equal to twelve times this figure is required. A certificate may be issued by either a Slovak bank or a bank in the applicant’s country of origin.
Financial Proof for Business Activities
Entrepreneurial activities require separate proof of financial resources. The amount depends on the type of business and is calculated based on the subsistence minimum.
For a sole proprietor, the requirement is 20 times the subsistence minimum. For a company manager or representative, the requirement is 100 times the subsistence minimum. For an innovative project with a business plan, the requirement is 40 times the subsistence minimum.
Documents You Need to Prove Your Funds
The primary proof of financial means is a bank statement showing the account balance. For personal purposes, it must be from the applicant’s personal account; for business purposes, it must be from a separate account designated specifically for business use.
Documents for a residence permit are subject to general rules. According to the IOM, they must generally be issued no more than 90 days before submission. Documents issued outside Slovakia must be certified and officially translated into Slovak or Czech in accordance with the applicable requirements for residence permit applications.
