What Do Future Students Need to Do?

Comenius University Bratislava offers bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD programs. Some programs are available in English. The individual faculties set admission requirements, so they vary.

The main points:

  • you must graduate from high school to earn a bachelor's degree;
  • you must have a bachelor's degree to earn a master's degree;
  • for a PhD, you must have completed a master's degree.

Applications are submitted through an online system. The university publishes instructions for different levels. 

Application deadlines vary. Each faculty sets its own dates. For example, the Faculty of Natural Sciences accepts applications for bachelor’s programs from January 15 through March 16, and for master’s programs from April 1 through May 31.

Student admission varies by program. Some departments admit students based on their application materials, while others administer entrance exams.

If you earned your degree outside the country, you’ll need to go through the academic recognition process. Some departments require this after the selection process.

In departments where instruction is conducted in Slovak, foreigners must demonstrate their proficiency in Slovak or take a test. For English-language programs, they must have sufficient English proficiency for their studies. An international certificate at a level of B2 or higher is accepted as proof.
