Comenius University attracts international applicants with its high rankings, English-taught programs, and affordable tuition. The difficulty of admission depends on the faculty, the chosen program, and the level of competition. To be admitted, you must meet the academic requirements. Be sure to gather your documents on time, verify your educational background, and take the entrance exams, if required.

How Does the Admissions Process Work?

Admission to Comenius University in Bratislava depends on the program and faculty. The university accepts students from various countries, but the requirements are set on a case-by-case basis. For some programs, it is sufficient to submit educational documents. Others require an exam, an interview, or proof of proficiency in the language of instruction.

For programs taught in English, an IELTS or TOEFL certificate is required. For programs taught in Slovak, proficiency in the language is required, often at a level of at least B2 on the CEFR scale. Foreign diplomas and certificates undergo a recognition process. After enrollment, students must complete the recognition process and obtain a student residence permit if they are citizens of a non-EU country. Success in the admissions process depends on meeting academic requirements and strictly following administrative procedures.

What Programs Do Students Often Choose?

Admission competition at Comenius University varies by program. It is most competitive in the medical and dental schools. These schools administer their own exams, set registration deadlines, charge an application fee, and determine the number of spots available for international students. Applicants must achieve high scores and pass the selection process. Meeting the minimum requirements is not enough.

Competition is lower in less popular fields. If there are fewer applications than available spots, admission decisions are based on academic records.
